Seeing females on a platform like that was a pivotal moment in my life. It was larger than a game. It was actual proof for me that anything was possible if I believed in MYSELF enough to make it happen. Watching those women lit me up in a way that’s hard to explain. Empowering doesn’t even cover it because that moment in ‘99 honestly changed the trajectory of my life forever. . Although I didn’t end up becoming a professional soccer player, the empowerment I felt as a young girl seeing those women’s dreams come true made me believe that MINE COULD TOO. Forever grateful to the game of soccer for helping me become the woman I am today. .
